Terry Harold Wortham

Terry Harold Wortham, 75, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at his home in Chester County, SC. His death occurred in darkness in the wake of Hurricane Helene. No services will be held. He was born August 20, 1949 in Louisville, KY to Robert Harold Wortham and Verneda Leona Meredith Wortham. Terry was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and was an R.O.T.C. cadet. Upon graduation, he served as an Army 2nd Lieutenant assigned to a NATO unit in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He trained with the 101st Airborne Division and served as a tank commander for a training unit in Colorado. He received an honorable military discharge in October 1975. A career social worker and sometime car salesman, Terry honored both vocations with integrity and respect for his clients. He approached life with humor, generosity and kindness. Terry was a man of principle who would not be compromised; a man of faith who lived by Paul's advice in his letter to the Romans... Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:9-10 Terry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Diana York Wortham; one brother, Barry Stephen Wortham (Kathy); two sons, Joshua Nash Wortham (Geoffrey Waugh) and Rob Tanner Wortham (Lisa); one daughter, Terresa Jo Wortham Gross (Randy); one stepson, Joseph Mathew Mattick (Elizabeth Weber); one stepdaughter, Carolyn Sue Mattick (Zachary Hughes); grandchildren, Abigail, Cylus and Isabella; and several nieces and nephews.
