Oscar "Doc" M. Peay

Chester Oscar M. ?Doc? Peay, 92, of Chester died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Mt. Prospect United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born April 4, 1918, Mr. Peay was a son of the late George W. and Bessie Massey Peay. He attended the Wellridge School in Chester and was a veteran of the Army Air Corps where he served during World War II. He retired after 40 years from the Grace Bleachery Plant of Springs Industries and was also a cattle farmer. Mr. Peay was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church. He is survived by a son, Oscar ?Buddy? L. Peay and wife Maureen of Richburg; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Wages, Evelyn Bridges, and Rosa Lee McKeown all of Chester. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie P. Morgan and his wife Gladys Young Peay. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC and other times at the home of his son Oscar L. ?Buddy?
