Carlisle, SC: Mr. John Willie Taylor, 84, died Sunday, June 5, 2022, at MUSC Chester Nursing Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Leeds Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth “Skeet” Thomas and John’s nephew, Rev. C.E. Taylor officiating. There will also be Full Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday at the church or anytime at the home of Terry and Renee Rawls, 2853 Lakeshore Dr., Chester, SC. Mr. Taylor was born January 28, 1938 in Fairfield County, SC and was a son of the late Charlie Leroy Taylor, Sr. and Lona Mae Boulware Taylor. He was a graduate of Chester High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Zenith Engraving as a supervisor. He was a charter member of Leeds Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and a Deacon and several other committees. John was a member of Coleman Masonic Lodge. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing. John also enjoyed Blackstock Bluegrass. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Stevenson Taylor; two daughters, Renee T. Rawls (Terry) of Richburg and Sheri T. Brown (Scott) of Carlisle; three grandchildren, Amanda R. MCDonnell (Rudy) of Summerville, Ashely R. Kittle (Jim) of Columbus, OH and Dr. Andrew Brown of Mesa, AZ; five great grandchildren, Brianna Rawls, Madeline McDonnell, Liam McDonnell, Lona Kittle and James Kittle; one brother, George “Buck Taylor (Judy) of Carlisle; one sister, Lounette T. Dickens of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and James Taylor and three sisters, Lula T. English, Louise T.
