Margaret Anita Beddingfield

Margaret Anita Wilks Cox Beddingfield, 88, died Saturday, March 22, 2025 at her home. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverends Skeet Thomas, Mike Black and David Sealy officiating. The family will receive friends also Tuesday in the sanctuary of the church from 12:00 Noon until service time. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Beddingfield was born in Chester, SC on May 15, 1936 and was a daughter of the late Fred and Margaret Wise Wilks. She was a graduate of Chester High School and retired as an accountant with Chester County Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served on the church council and was the treasurer and a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was also a part of the Golden Age Senior Group and First Baptist Church, Chester Senior Group and a volunteer for the Chester Ministerial Food Pantry at Purity Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beddingfield is preceded in death by her first husband, D. W. Cox and her brother, ErvIn Wilks and her sister-in-law, Hazel Wilks.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Beddingfield; four children, Sheila Grant  (Jackie L, Grant -Deceased) of Chester, SC, Janice Thomas (Skeet) of Chester, SC, Tammy Barnes (Rick) and James T. Beddingfield all of Gastonia, NC: five grandchildren, Julie Flynn (Jeremy) of Pauline, SC, Shannon Abbott (Shane) of Rock Hill, SC,  Taylor Thomas of Chester, SC, Brent Barnes (Jessica) and Richie Barnes (Leigh Ann) all of Cherryville NC; ten beloved great-grandchildren;  two sisters, Ann Smith (Danny) of Lawrenceville, Ga. And Brenda Alexander (Ted) of Charlotte, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
