Kenneth Cruse, a beloved member of the community and a dedicated professional in the field of biochemistry and laboratory technology, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, March 18, 2024. He was 72 years old. Kenneth, affectionately known as Kenn, was born on February 4, 1952, in Fort Riley, Kansas, while his father, Bill Cruse, served in the US military. He spent his formative years in Illinois before moving to South Carolina in 1974 to pursue his higher education at Clemson University. There, he earned his master's degree in biochemistry, laying the foundation for his career. In 1978, Kenn settled in Chester, South Carolina, to assume the role of Laboratory Manager at Chester County Hospital. His passion for science and innovation led him and his wife, Susan, to establish a vineyard and winery in the Lewis Turnout section of Chester County in 1986. Together, they cultivated grapes and produced wines, delighting patrons with their creations for several years. Following his tenure at Chester County Hospital, Kenn, alongside his close friend Chris Christopher, ventured into optimizing workflows and providing real solutions for the challenges facing clinical laboratories. This endeavor blossomed into a global healthcare solutions organization, allowing Kenn to travel around the world, sharing his expertise in technology and laboratory operations with institutions worldwide. He later joined Siemens Healthcare Consulting as Global Healthcare Director, where he continued to innovate in simulation software development, enhancing laboratory efficiency and processes. Kenn's dedication to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan of the home, their daughter Lauren Givens, son-in-law Rodger, and his cherished grandson, Henry Givens, all of Lexington, South Carolina. He was predeceased by his mother, Jean, and his beloved grandmother, Violet McCorkle, of Illinois. Surviving him also are his father, Bill Cruse, of Silvis, Illinois, and his brother Frank and sister-in-law Becky of East Moline, Illinois. Throughout his life, Kenn found great joy in his faith journey, ultimately accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was a student of the Bible and formerly served as a Lay Minister with the Presbyterian Church USA. A memorial service to celebrate Kenn's life will be held on Friday, March 29, at 2 pm at Uriel Presbyterian Church located at 1578 Stringfellow Road, Chester, South Carolina with Reverend Michael Shaffer officiating, The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the social hall of the church and other times at the home. . Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Uriel Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund 1578 Stringfellow Road, Chester, SC 29706 Kenneth Cruse will be remembered for his intellect, unwavering dedication to his profession, and his boundless love for his family. His legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
