Chester, SC:Hiram McCants, Sr., 87, died Monday April 27, 2020 at his home. Because of the impact of the corona virus the family has decided to have a service at a later date. Mr. McCants was born in Chester, SC on September 16, 1932 and was a son of the late Paul Luther McCants and Katie Revels McCants. He was a graduate of Chester High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War. Mr. McCants was a long distance truck driver having owned his own rig and also in his earlier years drove for Thurston Truck Lines. He was a member of the former Second Baptist Church where he worked with the RA’s and taught Sunday School and was a deacon. He is preceded in death by two granddaughters, Martie McKinney and Amy McKinney. Mr. McCants is survived by his wife of over forty years, Margaret Mosley McCants; five children, Hiram McCants, Jr.(Jane) of Winston-Salem, NC; Paul McCants(Karen) of Lexington, SC; Julina Bright, Doris Bright(Alfred) and David Rudder all of Chester, SC; six grandchildren, Tonya Hunter(Michael) andBrandon McCants of Chester, SC, Tony McCants(Emily) of Lexington, SC, Chris Bright(Terri), Jared Bright and Joshua Bright all of Chester, SC, Zach McCants and Katelyn Smith both of Winston-Salem, NC; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
