Franklin Cruse Kerr, 59, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Jacks officiating. Born October 28, 1950 in Rock Hill, S.C., Cruse was a son of the late Herbert White Kerr and Alice Conder Kerr. He was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School, in Charlotte, N.C. and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran during the Vietnam War. He retired from Guardian Industries as a mechanic. He is survived by his life partner Linda S. Modlin, one step-daughter Jill Shaffer of Ford City, Pa., one step-son Jason Toy of Monroe, N.C., five grandsons Joshua, Austin, and Andrew Toy, Jacob and Caleb Shaffer, one brother Jeff Kerr of York, S.C., three sisters Mary Kerr Harris of Van Wyck, S.C., Melissa Kerr Lomax of Indian Land, S.C., Ida L. Kerr of Smyrna, S.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at Barron Funeral Home 133 Wylie Street Chester, S.C., 29706.
