Mr. Clyde Nesbitt Strange, 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, July 29, 2016 at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester, SC.The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 102 Church Street, Chester, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. Born February 2, 1934, in Taylors, SC,Mr. Strange was the son of the late Hazel Gilbert Strange and Pierce Waldon Strange.He graduated from Taylors High School and earned a B.S. Degree in Animal Science from Clemson University in 1956.His entire 33-year career was with Clemson University Extension Service in Chester.He began as Assistant County Agent and at his retirement was County Extension Director.He enjoyed working with farm families and especially with4-H club members.He loved guiding young boys and girls to grow into responsible and productive adults; many won state and national recognition in their respectiveprojects.He started a 4-H Horse Club that was one of the best in the state and served as a model for others. Mr. Strange had many other interests.He served one term on the Chester County School Board.He officiated high school football for many years.He was a certified NRA instructor and a Civil Defense Radiological Monitoring Instructor.As a faithful member of First Baptist Church, he served on the Board of Deacons, the Usher Committee, and Boy Scout Advisory Committee.He loved hunting, working on his farm, and collecting scale model and antique tractors. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sylvia Fortner Strange, and two daughters Susan Strange Anderson and husband Lenny of Chester, and Angela Elizabeth Strange of Rock Hill; brothers Thomas Royce Strange, Pierce Waldon Strange, Jr., and Ronald Gilbert Strange, all of Greenville County; grandsons Sarkis Jacob Zoubian and Clyde Thomas Zoubian of Rock Hill; and step-grandson Len Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO.He was preceded in death by his son Clyde Nesbitt “Skip” Strange, Jr. and a step granddaughter Elyse Anderson.
