Claudette Dickerson Clack , 81, of Blair, SC, died December 1, 2017, from complications of multiple strokes. She was surrounded by her loving family during her transition. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 4, 2017 at Cool Branch Baptist Church, Blair, SC with Reverend John Epps officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Monday in the sanctuary of the church. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Claudette was a 45-year cancer survivor after first being diagnosed in 1972. She served as an inspiration to many who witnessed her resilience and grace over the years as she battled the disease. Claudette will be remembered for being a selfless wife and mother who always had a smile and exhibited a quiet strength while serving as the anchor of her family. Born April 7, 1936, in Blair, SC, she was the daughter of the late Claude M. and Azilee Feaster Dickerson. She was a 1954 graduate of Monticello High School and attended Winthrop College. During her career she worked for the Honorable Robert W. Hemphill as part of his Washington, DC, Congressional staff. She was also a long time employee of Cone Mills, Inc., retiring in 2000. She would say however, that her greatest accomplishment was being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Claudette was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Baking was her specialty and she was known for her award-winning pecan pies. A long-standing member of Cool Branch Baptist Church, she had an unwavering faith in God and was involved in various ministries of the church. She was also a member of Coleman Chapter No. 261, Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, William Francis Clack; her two daughters of whom she was most proud, Avonda K. Hendricks (Bill) of Acworth, GA, and Marla E. (Beth) Clack of Columbia, SC; two grandsons, Brent (Paige) Hendricks of Dacula, GA, and Mitch Hendricks of Kennesaw, GA; great-grandson, Liam Hendricks; sister, Emma Lou (Charlie) Yongue of Six Mile, SC; brother, John (Cynthia) Dickerson of Chapin, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, P.O.
