Columbus, GA Mr. Winston Douglas Compton, 69, of 2000 Warm Springs Road, Columbus, GA, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 atMagnolia Manor in Columbus, GA. The funeral will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Tabernacle Ministries with Rev. Charles Bell officiating.The interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the church sanctuary and other times at the home of his brother Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth Compton, 1179 Ross Road, Blackstock, SC. Born January 30, 1943 in Woodruff, SC, Mr. Compton was a son of the late George Otis Compton and Florine Chancy Compton.He attended the schools of Chester County, University of South Carolina andThe Church of God School of Ministry in Cleveland, TN.He was a retired Minister having served as a Bishop in The Church of God. He is survived by two sons, Jeff Compton of Calhoun, GA and Nicholas Compton of Greenville, SC; three daughters, Hope Bingham of Columbia, SC, Faith Myers and her husband of Barnwell, SC and Wendy Bussie of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Brittany Bingham, Katelan Bingham, Jayden Compton, Dillion Bussie, Chynna Myers, Pierce Myers and Jarrod Daniel; one sister, Betty Joyner of Winnsboro, SC; four brothers, Jerry Compton and his wife Pauline of Chester, SC, Bobby Compton and his wife Janice of Chester, SC, Larry Compton and his wife Elaine of Anderson, SC and Rev. Kenneth Compton and his wife Debbie of Blackstock, SC.He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Compton and Howard Compton.
