Chester William Robert “Bobby” Price, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on March 22, 2021.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday March 25, 2021 at Chester Memorial Gardens with Rev. Daniel Wightman officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service. Mr. Price was born December 26, 1937 in Chester, SC, the son of the late Samuel Alexander Price and Ruby Rash Price. He attended Chester County schools, then served in the U.S. Army and the South Carolina Army National Guard. Bobby retired from Springs Mills after 47 years of service.He worked for Springs Industries, both at the Eureka and Katherine Plant in Chester County where he was known to be one of the fastest doffers. Bobby was also known for his ability to throw a basketball from as far as half-court and make the basket although he was not a tall man. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, riding roller coasters, and taught his grandchildren how to play checkers until Little Lucy eventually beat him, and he laughed in awe because he had not been easy on her. He loved watching old Westerns and eating sweets, and was known by most as the “family germaphobe”.Although he has left this world, his legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren, as they all have his eyes and his daredevil heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Nick Price and Roger Price; and two sons, William Alexander Price and Christopher Jason Price. Surviving in addition to his wife, Lucy Shepherd Price, are his daughter, Karen Price Gardner and her husband, Brian, of Chester; his son, Robert Kevin Price and his wife, Hisayo, of Chester; his grandchildren, Lucy, Kabri, and Will Gardner of Chester; his sister, Shirley Price Barber of Chester; and many nieces and nephews.
