Blackstock Mr. Waymon Milton “Teddy Bear” Motes, 64, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Ayers, Sr. officiating.Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. Motes was born September 16, 1948 in Athens, Georgia and was a son of the late Jessie Vernon Motes and Etta Mae Foster Motes.He attended the schools of Chester County, SC and received his CDL license at Charlotte Truck Driving School.He retired from Omnova after more than 34 years of service having worked as a driver and also plant security.Mr. Motes was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and also coached baseball.He was a member of Grace Covenant Church of God in York, SC. He is survived by his wife of more than 46 years, Gloria C. Motes; two daughters, Tracey Motes Poling and husband Dewayne of York and Kelly Motes Benson and husband John of Chester; four grandchildren, Britney Motes, Billy Yarborough, Aundrea Benson, and Amber Benson; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie McClinton and Kaylee Williams; and two sisters, Pat Price of Chester and Teresa Buff of Rock Hill.He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Motes and a great-granddaughter, Madison McClinton.
