Blackstock

On November 29, 2025, our beloved mother, Meemaw, sister, and friend, Wanda Satterfield Whitesides, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church. The family will receive friends starting at 1:30 PM at the church.

Born on November 8, 1950, in Pineville, NC, Wanda was the daughter of the late James and Dorthy Satterfield. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Nathan.

Wanda was the devoted wife of Steve Whitesides for 56 years, and together they lovingly raised their two sons, Steve (Lori) and Brad (Sarah). Her greatest joy in life came from her grandchildren, Addie (Johnathon), Emily (Frank), Anna, and Paxton, each one holding a special place in her heart. Wanda was further blessed by becoming Great-Grandmother to Lilah, Hudson, and Cru, with sweet Covee soon to arrive.

To her grandchildren, Wanda was simply Meemaw, a title she cherished above all others. As Meemaw, she was a steady source of unconditional love. Being Meemaw was not just a role she filled; it was the truest reflection of her heart.

A dedicated homemaker, Wanda poured her heart into creating a warm, welcoming home where everyone felt loved and cared for. A homemade meal was her love language and her kitchen was the center of countless family gatherings. She found joy in nurturing her family and took pride in the home she built with Steve.

Wanda was a loving and supportive sister to Trina, always ready with encouragement, compassion, and laughter. The bond with her sister was lifelong and unbreakable.

In addition to her devotion to family, Wanda was a true and loyal friend. Whether through a kind word, a homemade cake, or simply being present in times of need, she touched the lives of countless friends.

Throughout her life, Wanda was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior. She dedicated herself to various church missions and ministries, always offering a helping hand, a warm smile, and a prayer for anyone in need. Her steadfast faith profoundly shaped everyone around her.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
