Mrs. Virginia Spence Denruyter died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Chester Regional Medical Center.The funeral service will be 3:00 PM Thursday at the home, 871 Saluda Road, Chester with Dr. Dwight L. Pearson and Rev. Clint H. Davis officiating.The interment will be in The Spence Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 Wednesday at the home, 871 Saluda Road, Chester. Born September 5, 1917 in Chester, SC, Mrs. Denruyter was a daughter of the late Willie and Annie Jane Montgomery Spence.She was a graduate of Chester High School and Perry Business School.Sheretired from Borden Foods, Inc. in September 1982 after thirty-seven years as distribution center office clerk.Since retiring she enjoyed growing vegetables and tending her flowers.Mrs. Denruyter joined Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in 1932 where she was an active member of the Wylie-Grier Circle and the Jake S. Colvin Sunday School Class. She is survived by her husband of over sixty-seven years, Henry W. Denruyter; one sister, Kathleen S. Chase of Southgate, MI; one brother, Sam Spence of Augusta, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
