Chester: Mrs. Violet Rhodes King, 80, formerly of Graham, NC, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Chester Regional Nursing Center. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 11, 2010 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Graham, NC with Reverend Norman Fargis and Reverend Steve Crouse officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, October 11, 2010 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 Am in the church sanctuary. Interment will be held in Graham Memorial Park. Mrs. King was born November 20, 1929 in Gilford County, NC, a daughter of the late Lonnie Henry Rhodes and Myrtle Robinson Rhodes and was the widow of Victor R. King to whom she was married for over fifty years. She was a graduate of Graham High School and a charter member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was church pianist for over thirty-five years and a founding member of the Guiding Light Quartet. Mrs. King was also a member of the church choir and the church Trio. She was retired from Hosiery Mills in Graham and Burlington, NC and also from Wal-mart as a department manager. She is survived by a sister, Louise Rhodes Crouse and a nephew, Hurley Crouse both of Chester, SC who were her caregivers. Mrs. King is also survived by several other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 515 N. Marshall Street, Graham, NC 27253.
