Chester

Viola Dalton Armstrong passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the age of 94.

She had been in declining health for 7 months. She recently enjoyed celebrating her 94th birthday with family and friends.

She was born May 25, 1931 to the late Richmond Pierce Dalton and Sallie Pack Dalton. She was a prayer warrior and dedicated herself to nurturing the faith of those she loved. She was a faithful member of Fountain of Life Church of God and attended regularly until her health declined. In September of 2024, she was honored at her church for reading through her bible through every year for 50 years! We know that on June 15th, she heard: “Well done, my good and faithful servant” Matthew 25:23.

Viola was predeceased by her first husband, Herbert Love, Sr; her second husband, Elihu Armstrong; her beloved son, Herb Love, Jr; her sons in law, Ed Endres and Shorty Thomas; as well as her 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Endres of York; Judy Mobley (Hoppy) and Kathy Thomas both of Chester; her daughter in law, Cheryl Love of Charlotte, she loved her daughter in law as her own daughter; step children, Mary Ann Kohli of Charleston and William Armstrong (Jane) of Rock Hill; and a sister, Betty Bishop of Lexington, S.C. Viola leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Sherri Tober (Gary), Dana Crump (Scott), Mark Rollins, Ginger Darby, Christie Collins, Brian Rollins, Eric Love, Dee Alley (Wayne) and Betsy Houston (Charles). They all affectionately called her “Maw Maw”; as well as 24 great grand children, and 8 great great grand children. Mrs. Armstrong has a special love for Wayne Alley, her grand-daughter’s husband. She insisted on having him an early birthday party and wanted to have another one month later! She loved him so much.

The family is very thankful for Brenda Roberts, Providence Hospice Care, Julia Hope Cornwell, and Carolyn Queen who lovingly helped us care for our Mother.
