Moravian Falls, NC Mr. Thomas Edward Widener, 77, formerly of Chester, SC, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester, SC with Rev. Kevin Taylor officiating.The interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Barron Funeral Home. Born October 6, 1936 in Chester, SC, Mr. Widener was the son of the late Walter Edward Widener and Jessie Lowry Widener.He was a graduate of the schools of Fairfield County and retired from Carlisle Printing and Finishing.He was a member of Masonic Lodge #51 and a former member of Country Grass Band.Mr. Widener enjoyed Blue Grass and Gospel Music and played the bull fiddle and electric bass. He is survived by one daughter, Robin Dean and her husband Daniel of Rock Hill, SC; four sons, Benny Widener of York, SC, Steve Widener, Jimmy Widener, Tim Widener and his wife Kay all of Chester, SC; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and two sisters, Betty Jo Smith and Faye Adams both of Gastonia, NC.He was preceded in death by a son Bobby Widener. The children would like to acknowledge their mother Janice Tallent Widener and Mr. Wideners companion of the last seven years Mary Wheelock.
