CHESTER Mr. Thomas Elliott McDonald, 78, of 1213 Halsellville Road, Chester died peacefully Wednesday, December 03, 2008 at his residence. The funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Beaver Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Terry Wingate officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Born February 2, 1930 in Blackstock, SC, Mr. McDonald was a son of the late John Thomas ?J.T.? and Kate Smith McDonald.He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and attended York Technical College.He was retired from Carlisle Finishing Plant and a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for fifty years.He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Lavinia Weir McDonald; two daughters and son-in-law, Dr. Sandra McDonald of Fort Collins, Colorado and Harriet M. and Dana Simmons of Clemson, SC; one grandson, Edward Dana Simmons, IV of Clemson, SC; two twin granddaughters, Maggie and Kate Simmons of Clemson, SC; one brother, Sanford McDonald and his wife Betty of Blackstock, SC; two sisters, Helen M. Cloniger of Blackstock, SC and Evelyn M. Rash of Chester, SC and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Beaver Creek Baptist Church, C/O James C. Huey, 3826 Bethlehem Road, Blackstock, SC 29014 OR Hospice Care of South Carolina, 179 Columbia Street, Chester, SC 29706.
