Thomas Wesley Carter Jr.

Thomas Wesley Carter Jr, 39, died Sunday, June 14,2026 at MUSC Columbia Downtown. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 19,2026 at New Hope Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. 

Born November 28, 1986 in Rock Hill, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Wesley Carter Sr and Jean Young Carter. Wes was a graduate of Clemson University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education in 2009 and a Master of Science in Applied Economics and Statistics in 2011. Wes was employed with Chester County as the Finance Director for 13 years and later he began working for his family business, Carters Landscape as Operations Manager until his death. Wes was a member of Armenia Methodist Church. He was a member of the 4H dairy club in his younger years and enjoyed showing cows which he raised on his farm Breezy Hill. Wes enjoyed all sports and was an avid soccer player in his high school years, but his number one love was his daughter Ada. He enjoyed watching professional bull riding, and NASCAR racing. Wes loved his family, Mack Trucks, and all things Clemson Tigers.

 He is survived by his mother Jean Young Carter of Chester; daughter, Ada McCarley Carter of Little Mountain, SC; grandmother, Barbara Parker Young of Chester, SC; aunts, Ann Young Thomas (Doug) of Chester, SC; Linda Gail Young of Chester, SC; cousins, Erica Thomas McKenzie (Gary) of Kingstree, SC, Taylor and Lindsey Young of Chester, SC. 

Wes was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Wesley Carter Sr; his grandfather, Robert Roy Young; a great grandmother Susie McCarley Parker, as well as his uncle Robert David Young.
