Rock Hill Mr. Thomas James “T. J.” Carter, Jr., 91, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Spring Arbor in Rock Hill.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Trinity Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rick Wheeler officiating.Interment will follow in Old Purity Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Mr. Carter was born May 3, 1923 in Chester County, SC and was a son of the late Thomas J. Carter, Sr. and Lonia Thomas Carter.He attended the schools of Chester County and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.Mr. Carter retired from Springs Industries after 45 years of service and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He is survived by one step son, John T. McKeown, Jr. (Anne) of Chester, SC; two grandchildren, John T. McKeown, III (Merry) of East Point, Ga. and Leslie A. Hollifield (Jamie) of Chester, SC; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Hollifield of Chester, SC and Bella McKeown of East Point, Ga.Mr. Carter was the widower of Nancy Lynn Carter having been married over 45 years.
