Chester Mr. Ted Ray Thompson, 73, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Chester Regional Nursing Center.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating.Interment will follow in Old Purity Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Baron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. Thompson was born April 16, 1943 in Ava, Illinois and was a son of the late John Ardell Thompson and Imogene Doetch Thompson.He was a graduate of Hampshire High School in Hampshire, IL and attended Illinois University.Mr. Thompson was a self-employed residential contractor.He attended Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church and was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by his life companion, Carolyn Owens Thompson of Chester; one son, Dr. Steven Michael Thompson (Sarah) of Eastsound, Washington; one daughter, Mary Lu Gersten of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Norman Thompson and Roy Thompson both of Hampshire, IL and David Thompson; one sister, Marjorie Schiesher of Rochester, Minnesota; and two step children, Jay Ammons (Dani) of Chester and De Borah Inman (Paul) of Rock Hill.Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Lee Strassburger; a son, Scott Whitney Thompson; and a brother, Daniel Thompson.
