Edgemoor, SC:Susan Dryman Murphy,61,passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC. A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 23, 2014, at 4:00 PM at Edgemoor Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Reverend JamesMcLurkin and Reverend Edward Harris officiating.Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the interment in the multi-purpose room at the church. Susan was born December 16, 1952 in Asheville, North Carolina and was raised in Candler, NC. She was thedaughter of the late Clarence Roe & Terry Leatherwood Dryman. Susan was a graduate of Enka High School and Asheville-Buncombe Tech. both in North Carolina. As a leader in the Edgemoor Community and local church, she was able to gain the respect of many of the young people of that community which lead her to begin serving as a substitute teacher at Lewisville High School. Her talents allowed her to mentor these students and help mold them into future community leaders. She also was the Officer in Charge of the Lando Post Office but her greatest passion and the majority of her time was as a Homemaker for her family. Susan was an active member of Edgemoor ARP Church where she expressed her passion for the piano as one of thechurch musicians and also a member of the choir . She was also the musician at Lando Baptist Church and was one of the founding members andsecretary for her beloved Lando ManettaMills History Center.She was the secretary of Lando Fire Department and member of the SC State Firefighter’s Association. She is survived by her husband of over forty years,Edward Y. (Eddie) Murphy, Jr.; one daughter, Jennifer Murphy of Edgemoor, SC;two sons, Brian Murphy and his wife Febryanti of JaKarta,Indonesia,and Darius Murphy and his girlfriend, Brittany Broome of Edgemoor, SC; two grandsons, Andra and Aidan Murphy and many family and friends.
