It is with both profound sadness and steadfast faith that we announce the peaceful passing of Stephen R. Sloan Sr., who, at 82 years old, entered into the eternal embrace of his Savior on May 3rd, 2026. A life richly lived and deeply cherished, Stephen leaves behind a legacy of devotion, unwavering faith, and selfless service.
For over four decades, Stephen faithfully served as a shepherd to his flock, passionately proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and touching countless lives with his wisdom and compassion. He was a beloved figure in his community, known for his genuine kindness and the depth of his convictions.
Born on June 7, 1943, to the late Thomas Shannon Sloan and Lucile Reasoner Sloan, Stephen's life was a testament to his strong roots and multifaceted character. He built an enduring partnership with his beloved wife of 61 years, Daisy Cameron Sloan, a bond that served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they cultivated a loving family, including their daughter, Janet Sloan Bradley (Anthony), and their sons, Stephen Raymond Sloan Jr. and Thomas Shannon Sloan III (Kirsten). Stephen delighted in his grandchildren, Elizabeth Lane Bradley, Adam Sloan, Andrew Sloan, Caleb Sloan, Noah Sloan, and Thomas Sloan, finding immense joy in their growth and accomplishments. He is also lovingly remembered by his dear sister, Nancy Sloan Hunter (Gerald) of Irmo, SC.
Beyond his sacred calling, Stephen was a man of diverse talents and interests. He dedicated years as a skilled machinist before his retirement and held a deep, abiding connection to the land through his passion for farming. With Daisy by his side, he also embraced a spirit of adventure, exploring many corners of the world and creating a tapestry of cherished memories through their travels abroad.
He was preceded in his journey home by his siblings: Thomas Reasoner Sloan, Edna Emma Sloan, George Francis Sloan, and Katherine Sloan Eaddy.
