Stephen Macintosh Pierce

Columbia, SC Mr. Stephen MacIntosh Pierce, 62, died Monday, December 12, 2022, at Lexington Medical Center, in Columbia, SC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church in Chester, SC with Rev. Mike Black and Rev. David Sealy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday in the sanctuary of the church. Mr. Pierce was born September 21, 1960 in Rumson, NJ and was a son of the late Samuel Bailey Pierce, Jr. and Marcella Kirk MacIntosh Pierce. He was a graduate of Rumson-Fairhaven High School in Rumson, New Jersey and the University of South Carolina. Mr. Pierce was employed with Lexington County, SC as a GIS Specialist. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher of the Young Adults, a member of the Drama Team and an usher and greeter. He drove an hour each way to be a part of his church. Visiting those who were homebound or in the hospital was a vital part of Steve’s ministry. He was an avid University of SC Gamecock fan. He is survived by his wife of over 37 years, Cathy Carter Pierce; three children, Brian Carter Pierce of Columbia, SC, William Joseph Pierce (Jade) of Gaston, SC and Bailey Rebecca Pierce of Ridgeville, SC; one sister, Susan Pierce Juncosa of Ocean Township, NJ; one brother, Samuel Bailey Pierce, III of Red Bank, NJ; his mother-in-law, Barbara Carter of Chester, SC; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
