Stella Beatrice Canty Stokes

Stella Beatrice Canty Stokes, 89, went home to be with the Lord on September 10, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 15, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Catawba Cemetery. Stella was born April 5, 1935 and was a daughter of the late Henry Isaac Canty and Artie Jane George Canty. Stella married her life-long love in 1952 and had eight children and one stepson. Stella was a mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma and she loved all of her people. In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Stokes; stepson, Lonnie Newell; seven sons, Kenny Stokes, BJ Stokes, Robert Stokes, Berry Stokes, Danny Stokes, Joe Stokes and Glen Stokes; grandson, Christopher Stokes; and two great-grandsons, Christopher Cameron and Dekota Turner, and six brothers and sisters. Stella is survived by her daughter, Sandra Kay Stokes Black; daughter-in-law, Faye Stokes; sister, Libby Rabon; brother, Bobby Canty; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and also great-great grandchildren.
