Sidney Wayne Goodyear, owner of Goodyear Accounting Services, died peacefully in his home on May 12, 2022 surrounded by his family. A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Chester ARP Church with Reverend Clint Davis officiating. The family will receive friends also Sunday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Barron Room of the church. Interment will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2022 at Riverview Cemetery 9471 Highway 9, Nichols, SC 29581. Born in Mullins, South Carolina on November 13, 1943 and raised in Nichols, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Madison Wayne Goodyear and Alma Floyd Goodyear. Upon the untimely passing of his parents, he was then lovingly raised by the late Evan and Georgia Goodyear. He was a graduate of Mullins High School. He attended Wofford College where he played baseball. He later transferred and graduated from Kings College, where he also played baseball. He received an accounting degree from Appalachian State University. Mr. Goodyear has been a public accountant in Chester for over 50 years. Mr. Goodyear had a significant role in the revitalization of the Chester County Airport. He was the Airport Commission Chairman for 37 years. He was active in the Chester County Home Builders Association. He was also a faithful member of Chester ARP Church. Mr. Goodyear was an IPTAY member for over 40 years. He loved his Clemson Tigers and always included some form of orange and purple in his outfits! He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Becky Altman Goodyear; a daughter, Julia Goodyear Hill and husband Benji of Beaufort, SC; a son, John Madison Goodyear of Columbia, SC; three grandsons, Alex (Kayla) Hill and Wriley Hill, Evan Goodyear; one granddaughter, Alessia Goodyear; two brothers, Jim (Betha) Goodyear and Elly Goodyear; one sister, Vi Goodyear Baucum. In addition, Becky’s children, Amy (Greg) Shaw, Will (Betty) Altman, Holly (Andy) Flynn and her grandchildren, Alex, Curry, Janie, and Drew. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Goodyear and a brother in law Bobby Baucum.
