CHESTER Samuel Alexander Edwards , 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House at Southminster in Charlotte, N.C. He was born in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina on August 5, 1920 was the son of the late Parks and Eva Grant Edwards.He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Martha Janet Miller Edwards of York, South Carolina. They were married in York, South Carolina on Christmas day, 1945. He was a graduate of the schools of Abbeville County and a veteran of the Army Air Corps during WWII in North Africa, Burma, China, and Indiabetween 1941 and 1945.Mr. Edwards workedover twenty-five years for Coker Pedigreed Seed Company and later retired from South Carolina Department of Transportation.He was a member of the Chester Masonic Lodge #18 and the Hejaz Shirne.Mr. Edward was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered by his friends for his great sense of humor. He is survived by his two daughters, Jan Runyon (Toby) of The Villages, Florida and Mary“Tut” Farrell (Rick) of Charlotte, North Carolina and two grandchildren, Alex Wadsworth (John) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Drew Farrell of New York, New York. The funeral will be 11:00 am Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Chester A.R.P. Church, 159 Main Street, Chester, SC with Rev. Clint Davisofficiating.The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 – 10:45 am Friday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester, SC 29706.
