Sammy Lee Mixon

CHESTER, SC: Mr. Sammy Lee Mixon, 83, died September 21, 2018 at his residence.A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Wilksburg Baptist Church with Rev. Seth Johnson officiating.The interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Wilksburg Baptist Church. Born July 23, 1935 in Sumter, SC, Mr. Mixon was a son of the late French C. Mixon and Anna Thymes Mixon Rhame.He was a graduate of Sumter High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the Air Borne Division and was retired from Hoechst-Celanese in Leeds, SC.Mr. Mixon was a member of Wilksburg Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Lynda Lawing Mixon; two sisters, Anna Ruth Bradham and Julia Mobley and one brother, Clyde Mixon. He is survived by one son, Sammy Mixon, II (Tammy) of Chester, SC; two daughters, Kim Mobley (Steve Owens) of Lancaster, SC and Mica Nichols (Larry) of Chester, SC; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
