Chester Mr. Sammy Phillips Hall, 76, died Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Chester Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. James Sanders and Rev. Ralph Byars officiating.Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 16, at First Freewill Baptist Church, 790 Hawthorne Rd., Chester, SC. Mr. Hall was born November 24, 1939 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late Harvey Ross Hall and Sadie Doster Hall.He attended Lewisville High School where he played basketball, football and baseball.Mr. Hall retired from Superior Essex and was a former Dixie Youth baseball coach.He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church where he formerly served as choir director, church soloist, deacon and Sunday School teacher. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Mildred McMahan Hall; two sons, Robert Hall (Lisa) and Randy Hall (Susan) both of Chester; four grandchildren, Colby Hall, Caleb Hall, Andy Hall (Jesse) and Kevin Hall all of Chester; two great grandchildren, Bridges Hall and Lincoln Hall both of Chester; one brother, James Harvey Hall (Janice) of Gastonia, NC; and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Hall was preceded in death by one sister, Janie Hall.
