ROCK HILL, SC: Mr. Sam Edward Collins, Sr., 82, formerly of Chester, SC, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at Pruitt Health Care in Rock Hill, SC.The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 19, 2017at Barron Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Pam McBrayer, 1886 Hardin Strait Road, Chester. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Sullivan officiating with the interment following in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester, SC. Born March 31, 1935 in Lando, SC, Mr. Collins was a son of the late Sam N. and Helen Broome Collins and the widower of Barbara Wilson Collins.He attended the Lewisville High School and was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War.Mr. Collins was retired from Cone Mills in Carlisle, SC and a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Ashworth (Andy) of Edgemoor, Pam McBrayer (Mitch)and Tracey Simpson(Kane) both of Chester; one son, Sam E. Collins, Jr. (Christie) of Chester, SC; seven grandchildren, Scott Collins (Amy), Josh Collins (Erica), Jason McBrayer (Meghan), Jordan,Justin, Gracein and Anna; four great grandchildren, Tyson, Caroline and Stella Collins and Jaxson McBrayer; four brothers, Steve Collins (Joan) of Richburg, Jimmy Collins and Charles Collins (Kay) both of Chester and Wayne Collins of Lancaster, SC.
