Ruth Roddey Worthy, 100, died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery with the Reverend Clay Waldrip officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Born December 27, 1910, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Rosa Cornwell Curry Roddey. Mrs. Worthy retired from Southland Life Insurance Company with 28 years and 11 months of service. She was a 20 year volunteer with the American Red Cross, and servived 18 years at Chester Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Worthy was the receipent of the DAR Community Service Award and was the oldest member ofthe First Baptist Church of Chester. Surviving are two grandchildren, Jan Worthy Sprinkle and husband Bobby of Winston Salem, NC and Tiffany Worthy Burket and husband Julian of Greenville, SC; five great grandchildren ; caregivers, Betty Rose Fleming, Bobby Roddey and Mike Roddey; and serveral nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas J. Worthy, Jr, and a son Thomas ?Tommy?
