Ruby Starnes Roof

CHESTER, SC Mrs. Ruby Starnes Roof, 85, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at her residence.A graveside service will be held 4:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2013 at Chester Memorial Gardens with Rev. Terry Fowler officiating.The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside and other times at the home, 787 Great Falls Highway, Chester, SC. Born May 8, 1929 in Chester County, SC, Mrs. Roof was a daughter of the late Lloyd Lever Starnes and Ollie Hutto Starnes.She was a graduate of Chester High School and a homemaker.Mrs. Roof was a member of Westside Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher.Her favorite hobby was baking and she enjoyed sharing her “goodies” with others. She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Lathan of Chester; three sons, Larry T. Roof and his wife Brenda of York, SC, Mike Roof and his wife Tracey of Chester, and Ronnie Roof and his wife Carla of Chester; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley S. Jolley of Rock Hill, SC. The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregiver and friend Louise Lathrop of Chester.
