Mrs. Ruby Wynona Stroud Byars, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster, South Carolina. A celebration of life service will be held at Parkway Baptist Church in Chester, SC11::00 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018 with Rev. Jay Dorsey officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens, West End Street, Chester, SC following the service. The family will receive friends and family immediately prior to the service at Parkway Baptist Church Fellowship Hall .At other times, the family will be at the home of Phyllis and Reb Bunkley, 1894 Sardis Drive in Lancaster, SC. She was born February 18, 1931, in Chester, South Carolina, a daughter of the late James Grover Stroud and Violet Quinton Stroud. She was the wife of the late Ralph Barner Byars.She was a graduate of Chester High School and worked over 25 years in the Gayle and Katherine Plants of Springs Industries.She loved children and her most memorable years were spent as a substitute teacher and teacher's aidein the Chester School system. Mrs. Byars was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Church where she spent over 30 years teaching four year old Sunday School and was affectionately known as “Miss Ruby” to several generations. She was also very active in the choir, Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) and Vacation Bible School. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Byars was predeceased by her husband of over 46 years Barner Byars; her daughter, Debra Byars Morgan, and her sister, Margie Holt.She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Byars Bunkley and her husband, Reb of Lancaster, SCand a son, Martin Barner Byars and his wife Tabitha of Rock Hill, SC, and her son-in-law, Skip Morgan of Rock Hill,SC.She loved her seven grandchildren and was so proud of each of them-Ryan Bunkley (Keisha Byrdic) of Lancaster, South Carolina; Abby Bunkley of Charleston, South Carolina; Morgan Byars and Phillip Byars of Rock Hill, SC; Trey Morgan (Amy) of Fort Mill, South Carolina; Bryan Morgan (Jaime) of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Ashley Morgan (Brittany)of Rock Hill. Great Grandchildren - Savannah, Jackson,Jamison, Logan, Crew, Locklyn, Smith and Sterling Morgan, Peyton and Parker Byrdic,and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. .
