Roy Dean Littlejohn, 76, went home to his be with his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2023 with wife Colleen and daughter Kelly by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Wesley Memorial Church with Reverend Shannon Higgins officiating. The family will receive friends also Sunday at the church from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Dean was born in Spartanburg SC on December 25, 1946 to Robert and Virl Littlejohn. He was raised in Chester, SC and he attended Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Dean graduated from Chester High School. Affectionally known as “Deano” he was a member of the basketball team and was awarded the MVP for 3 years. Dean was known for his mild-mannered kind nature and excellent sense of humor. He loved the Clemson Tigers but also became a Gamecock supporter when his daughter Kelly decided to go to college at USC (unless they were playing Clemson). He served in the US Army from 1966-1967 as a Military Policeman. While stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War he played basketball in a league. Upon returning from Germany, he started working for the SC Department of Transportation. He was employed with them until his retirement in 2005. Dean is survived by his wife of 53 years Colleen Hughes Littlejohn, daughter Kelly Littlejohn McLaren (Sean), four grandchildren Morgan McLaren, Harleigh McLaren, Anthony McLaren (Alysha), Christian McLaren, and one great- grandchild, Kylan McLaren. He is also survived by Sisters-in-Law Ann Cloud, Pat Coates (Emerson), Dell Connor (Brian), Rachel Hughes and Brother-in-Law Richard Hughes (Barbara) and many nieces and nephews and their families. Dean was preceded in death by his Father Robert Littlejohn, Mother Virl Littlejohn, Brothers Dennis Littlejohn and Randy (Wayne) Littlejohn. Additional family members very special to Dean who preceded him in death are his Father-in Law Raymond Price and Mother-in-Law Mildred Price, brothers-in-Law Jerry Hughes, Albert (Al) Hughes, Albert Cloud, Johnny Hughes and Homer Faulkenberry, Sisters- in-Law Terry Hughes, Peggy Littlejohn, Susan Littlejohn and Janice Jones, Nephew Tim Faulkenberry and his Pets “Annie and Maggie”. We would also like to thank the Medical Services of America Hospice team in Irmo, SC for taking such good care of Dean in his final days.
