Robert Lee Smith CHESTER:Mr. Robert Lee Smith, Sr. 76 died Tuesday February 24, 2009 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Shetley and the Rev. Carroll Arant officiating.Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Born February 7, 1933 in Chester, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Albert Cecil and Emma Good Smith.He was a graduate of Chester High School and a veteran of the United States Navy.As a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Mr. Smith served as Chairman of Deacons and was a lifetime trustee.He was retired from the United States Postal Service with 38 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Jean Hyatt Smith; son, Robert Lee Smith, Jr. of Chester; daughters, Debbie S. Hoyle and her husband Terry of Chester and Sandy Smith of Charlotte, NC; 3 grandchildren, Brian Hoyle, Kyle Hoyle, and Brook Wade all of Chester; and one great grandson, Landon Hoyle of Chester. The family will receive friends from 6~8 Thursday evening at Barron Funeral Home and other times at the home.
