Robert A. Peay

CHESTER Mr. Robert A. Peay, 85, of 1195 Belt Line Road, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Unihealth Post Acute Care in Rock Hill. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev Bill Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester from noon-2:00 p.m. Mr. Peay was born August 23, 1923 in Chester, the son of George W. and Bessie Massey Peay. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a Mason. Mr. Peay was of the Presbyterian faith. Surviving is his wife, Frances Peay, whom he married January 25, 1946 in Chester; son, Steve Peay and his wife, Regina of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Rosie McKeown, Evelyn Bridges, and Betty Wages, all of Chester; brother, Oscar Peay, also of Chester. Mr. Peay is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Christopher Peay of Raleigh, NC and Lindsay Peay of Clayton, NC. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald A. Peay in 1964.
