CHESTER: Mr. Robert Lee “Bob” Blanks, III, 79, died March 2, 2014 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.The funeral service will be 12:00 Noon Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Chester with Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon in the vestibule of the church. Born December 11, 1934 in Chester, SC, Mr. Blanks was a son of the late Robert Lee Blanks, Jr. and Mary Emma Hardin Blanks Sealy.He was a graduate of Chester High School and Gardner Webb College and was a veteran of the US Army and Army Reserves having served as a Spec-5 during the Berlin Crisis.Mr. Blanks was a retired school teacher having taught Art in Chester, Clover, Newberry and Florence Counties.He was a member of First Baptist Church of Chester where he was a former Sunday School Teacher, Usher and Church Artist.Bob loved sports and was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys Fan and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by one brother, Charlton Hardin Blanks and his wife Angie of Chester, SC; one nephew, William Joseph “Will” Blanks and his wife Lindy of Chester; one niece Mary Beth Blanks Grumblis and her husband Dave of Columbus, OH and a great niece, Ariel Melinda Blanks of Chester, SC.He was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Edward Blanks.
