Rev. Dr. William Thomas " W.T." Holmes

Sunrise: April 11, 1936 Sunset: November 28, 2023 Dr. W.T. Holmes was born in Blackstock, South Carolina to the late Robert Holmes, Jr. and Hettie J. Hemphill Holmes. He was married to the former Brenda D. Worthy. Dr. Holmes was preceded in death by two children, Louise B. Holmes and W. T. Holmes II. He is survived by three children, Hettie Holmes-Carter (Leon Carter), Bernice Wright, and Phyllis Hall, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a cousin, Wayne Diggs whom he loved as a brother. W.T. was a board member of the Chester County Natural Gas Authority for many years. He was also a 33 Degree Mason, and a member of Acacia Lodge #32, Lancaster Consistory #254, Menzel Shrine Temple #35, and Queen Bathsheba O.E.S. #7. Dr. Holmes was an educator and a minister, having served churches in Greenville, Winnsboro, Blackstock, Filbert and Chester. Dr. Holmes was honorably retired from Trinity Presbytery in 2001. He continued to serve churches in the Providence Presbytery until his passing. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2023 at Carmel Presbyterian Church, 134 Walnut Street Chester, SC 29706 with Rev. Dr. Robert M. Scotland and Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating. The family will receive friends also Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens 620 S.
