CHESTER: Mr. Ralph Eugene Lunsford, Sr., 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, April 26, 2014.The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the First Church of the Narzarene with Rev. John Porter officiating.The interment will be at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at First Church of the Nazarene, 182 Pinckney Street, Chester and other times at the home of his son Gene Lunsford, 1041 Ridgeview Road, Chester, SC 29706. Born April 8, 1935 in Union, SC, Mr. Lunsford was a son of the late Hayden Roy and Esther Roberts Lunsford. He was a graduate of Chester High School and attended the University of South Carolina.He was a veteran of United States Air Force having served during the Korean War.Mr. Lunsford wasretired from Ruth’s Salad as a salesman with over fifty years of service.He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Chester Masonic Lodge #18, Hejaz Shrine Temple, and the American Legion Post #27. He is survived by two sons, Ralph E. “Gene” Lunsford, Jr and Roy D. Lunsford (Lori) both of Chester; two daughters, Darlene Gibson (Tim) of Chester and Gina Grant (Dwayne) of Union, SC; step-son, Robbie Revis (Eileen) of Chester; mother-in-law, Cynthia Thompson of Chester; eight grandchildren, Kelly Lunsford-Thomas (Aaron), Ralph E. “Tripp” Lunsford, III (Caitlan), Tori Lunsford, Jonathan Revis, Krista Williams all of Chester, Caitlin Grant and Daniel Grant both of Union, SC and Burton Williams of Rock Hill, SC; four great grandchildren, Jay and McKinley Thomas, Landon Lunsford and Chloe Williams all of Chester; one brother, Charles Lunsford of Chester and two sisters, Pat Lail (Robert) of Conover, NC and Mary Ann Stevenson (Jerry) of Chester, SC.He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Thompson Lunsford, one brother Hayden Roy Lunsford, Jr., one sister, Frances Ellen Lunsford and his daughter-in-law Nancy Campbell Lunsford.
