CHESTER Mr. Porter Worthy Gregory, Jr, 80, of 1068 Pineview Lakes died, Monday, January 18, 2010 at Chester Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday at Trinity Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rick Wheeler and Rev. Mitch Gregory officiating.Interment will be in Old Purity Cemetery. Born October 30, 1929 in Chester, SC, Mr. Gregory was a son of the late Porter Worthy Gregory, Sr. and Martha Ellen Atkinson Gregory.A graduate of Chester County Schools and US Navy Veteran of WWII having served on the USS ARD 16.He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and was a member of the Men of the Covenant.He was retired from Associatied Grocers Mutual as head produce buyer. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Fant Gregory; one daughter, Martha Gregory Hill and her husband Robert of Newberry, SC; one son, Porter W. ?Greg? Gregory, III and his wife Louise of Perrysburg, Ohio; two grandchidren, Porter Britton of Austin, TX and Elizabeth G. Reich of Houston, TX; two great grandchildren, Peter Gregory and Elissa Gregory both of Austin, TX; two brothers, Ralph Gregory and his wife Peggy of Chester, SC and Tom Gregory and his wife Vivian of Talahassee, FL and one sister, Margaret Ann Brockman of Chester. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester.
