Peggy Joe Brakefield Gibson

Peggy Joe Brakefield Gibson, 84, died Thursday, December 19, 2024.  All services will be private.

Mrs. Brakefield was born January 16, 1940 in Chester, SC and was a daughter of the late James Henry Brakefield and Cynthia Elizabeth White Brakefield.  She was a graduate of Chester High School and retired from banking having worked for many years with Spratt Savings and Loan and retired from Bank of York.

She was a member of Chester ARP Church and attended New Hope UMC as a child.  Peggy was a devout Christian and loved her family.  She had a green thumb and could grow anything.  Peggy also loved cats especially her "Tigger" and "Dottie".

She is survived by one son, Damon Gibson (April) of Richburg; one daughter, Donna Charlene Anthony (Roger) of Arkansas; three grandchildren, Bevin Denae Earley (Maverick) of Chester, Kasie LaRae Beam of Rock Hill and Keegan Rae Gibson of Richburg; three great grandchildren, Aiden Barkdull of Rock Hill, River Farley of Chester and Fern Farley of Chester; one brother, James Kenneth Brakefield of Simpsonville; one sister, Lynda Lucas (Tony) of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of over 51 years, Donald Ray Gibson; and a great granddaughter, Forest Mae Farley.
