CHESTER, SC: Mr. Paul Griffin, 92, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 PM Friday, January 6, 2017 at Barron Funeral Home.The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 9, 2017 at Cool Branch Baptist Churchwith Rev. John Epps and Rev. David Levister officiating.The interment will be Cool Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Griffin was a native American born June 10, 1924 in Columbia, SC.He was the son of the late Bogan and Ethel Moore Griffin.Mr. Griffin attended the schools of Columbia, SC and was retired from Springs Industries.He was a US Army veteran having served duringWWII at Normandy and also Okinawa.He was a member of Cool Branch Baptist Church where he served as deacon and sang in the choir.He was preceded in death by his wife of over sixty years Elizabeth (Davis) Griffin and a grandson P.J. Griffin. Mr. Griffin is survived by one daughter, Freida Griffin Courtney and her husband Buddy of Lowrys, SC; two sons, Timothy Paul Griffin and his wife Betty of Chester and Joseph Dean Griffin and his wife Suzanne of Rock Hill, SC; one granddaughter and one great grandson, Charlene Mims and Joshua Fleming, whom he reared as a daughter and son;five grandchildren, Lisa Nicholson, Paula Hefner, Cynthia Westrope, Rae Levister and Michael Griffin; twelve great grandchildren, Jeff Varnadore, Daniel Levister, Jonathan Levister, Bubba Fleming, Beth Martz, Brandon Fleming, Carley Mims, Ashley Perez, Meghan Perez, Alexis Brasher, Tyler Brasher and Courtney Hefner; five great-great grandchildren, Allie McCants, Alexis Fleming, Jordan Grace, Aubree Lynn and Alexander.
