Newman Larry Bryson

Rev. Larry Bryson, 84, passed away on January 3rd, 2019. He entered into rest with his Savior surrounded by family. Larry was the son of the late Era Dalton and Ernest Loo Bryson of Trion, Georgia. He was a graduate of Furman University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Larry was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. Rev. Bryson had a long and faithful career in ministry. Following his time at Southeastern, he pastored Brown’s Baptist Church and then became the Director of Missions of the Cullum Association in Norlina, North Carolina. Larry served for 5 years as pastor of the Cherokee Baptist Church and as missionary to the Cherokee Nation. During his career, Rev. Bryson also served at The Baptist Brotherhood Commission, The Baptist Home Mission Board, and the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Era Dalton and Ernest Loo, and his two sons, Richard (Rick) Bryson and Charles (Chuck) Bryson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eloise K. Bryson, his daughter, Kathryn L. Waldrip (Clay) of Chester, SC, and his daughter-in-law, Sharon Bryson of Perrysburg, Ohio. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Kristen Beam (Zach), Justin Bryson (Nicole), Alex Bryson (Jennifer), Kimberly Bryson, Rebecca Lambird (John), Jacob Waldrip (Brittani), and Matthew Waldrip (Amanda); and 5 great grandchildren, Bryson (Kristen and Zach), Talyn and Bennett (Alex and Jennifer), and Ellie and Addie (Rebecca and John). The family will receive friends at Barron Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 6th from 4:00-5:30 pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 7th at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Remembrance Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Clay Waldrip, Larry’s son-in-law and pastor of First Baptist Church, Chester, and Rev. Stephen Clyborne, pastor of Earle Street Baptist Church, Greenville.
