Nannie Wyatt, 98, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 27, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Mr. Mike Wessinger and Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday at the church and other times at the home of Mazie Brantley. Nannie was born in Columbia, SC on September 8, 1924 and was a daughter of the late John Henry Wessinger and Mittie Amick Wessinger. She was a graduate of Chester High School Class of 1942. Nannie was actively involved in her church. She taught Sunday School Ladies Adult Class and served in numerous leadership roles at Wesley UMC. Nannie loved people and volunteered at Chester County Hospital for over 33 years and continued volunteering when it became Chester Regional Medical Center. She loved the interaction with the patients. She was the caretaker for her neighbors when they needed assistance with doctor’s appointments and other daily living needs. You could often see Nannie working in her yard with her flowers and vegetable gardens. Nannie retired from Winnsboro Oil Company as manager of their convenience store. She received many awards at this job for her outstanding performance. Nannie is best known for her years of work at Darby’s Store and the numerous children she watched grow into adulthood. Nannie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Carlos “Bill” Wyatt; by five brothers and their wives, David C. Wessinger (Eloise) Jake Wessinger (Irene), James Wessinger, Robert Wessinger and Henry Wessinger (Shirley); a sister-in-law, Sybil Wessinger; and a nephew, William Wessinger whom she loved as a son. She is survived by her brother, George S. Wessinger; a sister-in-law, Shirley Wessinger; four nieces, Mazie Brantley, Judy Wessinger, Margaret Anne Feltner and Tierra Lewis; four nephews, Michael Wessinger, Ronnie Wessinger, Ricky Wessinger and George Wessinger, Jr.; twelve great nieces and nephews; 20 great-great nieces and nephews; and two great-great-great nieces and nephews.
