Mrs. Nannie Stewart Goodman Darby Tuggle passed away on May 28, 2022 in Spartanburg with her three children by her side. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at First Baptist Church , Chester with Reverend Clay Waldrip officiating. Visitation will be held in the vestibule of the church from 1:00 pm until 2:00 PM also Wednesday.Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Stewart was born on January 12, 1923 in Fairfield County to Joseph Beverly Stewart and Carrie Lyles Traylor Stewart. She was a loving wife, mother, Gaga, sister, and aunt. As an excellent cook and seamstress, she was a great mentor and teacher to her children and grandchildren. She was a long-time faithful member of First Baptist Church in Chester, SC where she sang in the choir, served on many committees, and was faithful to the Lord. She worked for 42 years with Springs Industries. In her retirement, she exercised daily at the YMCA where she was admired and loved by friends of all ages. Many have said they would like to be like “Miss Nan” when they grow up. In 2016, she moved to Spartanburg where she was a resident of Eden Terrace. She made many friends there and enjoyed the activities, social events, and outings provided by the facility. She will be remembered for her kind heart, beautiful smile, and love for family and friends.She touched the lives of many during her 99 years. Her passing will leave an emptiness in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her. Nannie was preceded in death by her mother and father, husbands Martin Cecil Goodman, Harry Cleveland Darby, and Grover Cleveland Tuggle, seven siblings, daughter-in-law Rosemary Goodman, and her oldest grandson Geoffrey Michael Goodman. She is survived by her three children, Harold (Goody) Goodman (On), Terry Walker Darby (Susan), and Karen Darby Lyles (Wayne); five grandchildren, Brian Goodman (Kim), Dana D'Alessio (Chad), Claire Darby (Mike), Darby Lyles Thomas (Brian), and Elise Crews Lyles; twelve great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
