Mrs. Nannie Melton Peay, 93, died Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.A visitation will be held 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Barron Funeral Home on Thursday, August 25, 2016.The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Harris officiating. The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens. Born December 27, 1922 in Chester, SC, Mrs. Peay was a daughter of Will and Leola Love Melton.She attended the schools of Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries.She was a member of the Saluda Street Church of God. Mrs. Peay was preceded in death by herhusband Wesley Eugene Peay, four brothers, Will H. Melton, Odell Melton, Billy Love Melton, and Johnny Melton and three sisters, Mary Lee Peay, Sara Frankie Austin, and Ruby Melton. She is survived by one daughter Frances Howe of Salisbury, NC; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Melton (Dorothy) of Chester; five sisters, Ethel Walls of Baltimore, Maryland, Lillie Friendly and Margaret Mobley both of Chester, SC, Dot Welchel Wattenbarger and (Garland) and Judy Hefner (Pete) of Blackstock, SC Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215 or a charity of one’s choice.
