Nancy Ellen Sanders (79), passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 15, 2021, at her home in Summerville, South Carolina. There will be a private burial service on Monday, December 6, 2021 in Lando, SC, near her hometown of Chester. Ellen was born on June 15, 1942 in Chester, SC to Clarence and Verna Railey. She graduated from Chester High School in 1962 andlater that year, she married James C. Sanders of Lando, South Carolina. She was a career military wife and homemaker most of her life. She spent many months raising her children alone while her husband was deployed overseas for six months and more at a time. Ellen and Jim raised three sons, Jimbo, Randy and Thomas.She was an amazing, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was extremely loving, gracious, and never met a stranger, not to mention she was as tough as nails. She was very loyal and dedicated to all of her friends and family. Ellen battled cancer three times in her life.Her first diagnosis was in 2003 and she was a relentless fighter. Throughout multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she maintained a positive attitude and her friendly disposition to everyone she talked to. Ellen was survived by her loving pets, Sassy, Sammy and Boots. She was a lifelong lover of animals was known to take care of any stray cat or animal that her children or husband may have brought home, regardless of their health needs. We are devastated by her unexpected passing but know that she’s no longer suffering. She would not want us to grieve or be sad, but just “take it one day at a time.” Ellen was preceded in death by her son Jimbo (1979) and husband Jim (2001). She is survived by her sons Randy (Wendy) of Belleair, Florida and Thomas (Melissa) of Clarksville, Tennessee, and three grandchildren Evie, Henry and Jimmy. She was very proud of her family.
