Chester Nancy Mae Lowery McWatters, 86, died Thursday, January 27, 2022, at MUSC Health Chester Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Fountain of Life Church of God with Pastor David Flanders and Rev. Johnny Hefner officiating.Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday at the church. Mrs. McWatters was born February 5, 1935 in Chester County, SC and was a daughter of the late Palmer Jackson Lowery and Lily Mae Small Lowery.She was a graduate of Lewisville High School and retired from Springs Industries Springsteen Plant as a spinner.Nancy was instrumental in getting the Kidney Dialysis Center in Chester as well as transporting kidney patients to Columbia for treatment.She also was honored to shake hands with former President of the United States, George W. Bush, Jr.Nancy was a member of Fountain of Life Church of God where she served as church clerk for more than 40 years. She is survived by two nieces, Ora Lee McWatters of the home and Connie Stedman of Chester; a nephew, Jack Lowery of Chester; great niece, Nancy Flanders (Matthew) of Chester; great nephew, Billy McWatters (Becca) of Rock Hill; and numerous other nieces and nephews.Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, George R. McWatters,two daughters, Joyce and Brenda McWatters and one brother Leroy Jackson Lowery. Memorials may be made to Fountain of Life Church of God, 520 Christopher Lane, Chester, SC 29706.
