Chester:Moffatt Blair White,70, died Friday, October 28, 2011. A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October 31, 2011 at Old Purity Cemetery with Reverend Tim Foster and Dr. Dwight Pearson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Barron Funeral Home. Mr. White was born in Gastonia, NC on January 28, 1941, the only son of the late William Moffatt and Margaret Blair White. He was a 1959 graduate of Chester High School and attended Clemson College anda member of Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Blair made a career of beef cattle farming and was well known in the livestock industry. His first and foremost interest was as a firefighter both full-time and volunteer. He was employed with Chester Fire Department from 1973 until 1986 and was a volunteer with South Chester Fire Department from 1962 until present, having served the last ten years as Chief. Blair is survived by his wife, Jenell Logan White; one son, Russell Blair White and his wife Gina; one daughter, LouAnn White Bennett; three grandsons, Robert Kelsey Bennett, Matthew Alexander Bennett and Jacob Blair Bennett all of Chester, SC; one aunt, Gwynne Blair of Gastonia, NC and numerous cousins.
