Melissa Mckinney Osborn

Melissa McKinney Osborn, 47,  passed away on September 14, 2024, in Charlotte NC surrounded by family and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, September 20, 2024, at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Hallman officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 19, at Barron Funeral Home.

Melissa was born February 22, 1977 in Lumberton, NC and was a daughter of William H. McKinney and the late Sherry Chavis Mooney.  She was a graduate of Myers Park High School in Charlotte NC.  Melissa worked as a Claims Manager for Walmart in Chester SC.  She has been employed with Walmart for 30 years. Melissa loved the mountains and spending time with her family and friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her daughter, Brittany Diane Brown; her paternal grandparents, William Hickey McKinney and Eliza Hunt McKinney; maternal grandparents, James Isaiah Chavis and Rosie Cummings Chavis; her mother, Sherry Chavis Mooney and stepfather, Steven Craig Mooney; her uncle, Roger Dell McKinney; and aunts, Mary Jane Rigdon and Bessie Susan Silver.

Melissa is survived by her daughter, Mikayla Lynn Edwards (Austin Sweezy); a son, James McKinney Edwards “Mac” and two grandsons, Asher and DJ Sweezy of the home; her father and stepmother, Bill McKinney and Anita McKinney of Chester SC; two brothers, Andy McKinney (Brittany) of Winnsboro SC and Steven McKinney (Christy) of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters,  Kimberly Horton (Michael) of Richburg, SC and Kelly McKinney of Chester, SC; two nephews, Steven McKinney (Savannah) and Nathan McKinney; five nieces,  Kodie McKinney, Dakota Liebfred, Dallas Liebfred, Autumn McKinney and Remi McKinney; four great nephews, Westin, Korbin, Sawyer, and Brent; one great niece, Addeleigh; and two lifelong special friends, Hope Rainey and Angel Barton
